Our Good Morning Montserrat Tour starts off from Barcelona and is a half day tour of the magic mountain of Catalonia. The mountain of Montserrat escalates over 1200 meters and is formed of sedimentary rocks weathered by wind and rain over thousands of years. The formation of the Montserrat mountains depicts various legendary creatures, created by popular imagination.
During your Good Morning Montserrat experience you will commence by visiting the Royal Basilica of Montserrat, Santa Maria de Montserrat. Here you will have the opportunity to view Catalonia's most famous saint the Virgin of Montserrat, also known as the Black Virgin. The Virgin of Montserrat is positioned in the sanctuary of the Mare de Déu de Montserrat, which is located adjacent to the Benedictine monastery.
On your Montserrat tour, you will have the chance to enjoy the audio-visual exhibition detailing the creation and history of Montserrat and you will then also be able to taste four traditional liquors of Montserrat, handmade by the monks of the monastery.
It is possible you may have the chance on your Good Morning Montserrat tour, to experience the Escolanía of Montserrat choir. This XIV Century boys’ choir is one of the oldest choir’s in Europe. Their appearances are subject to their school commitments and any other special commitments of the choir or monastery.
The Montserrat tour takes place in the morning, you will be collected from Barcelona, Plaça de Catalunya at 09:15, but you will be expected to arrive there for 09:00, in order to avoid delays. The guide is in Spanish and English, the coach is air conditioned and please be respectful of the Basilica at Montserrat dress code, you will be expected to wear clothes that cover your arms and legs and you will also be required to wear closed footwear.
