Wing walking has been a pastime of daredevils since the early 20th century, it had been made famous by Ormer Locklear. Ormer started his wing walking shenanigans during his pilot training, when he used to climb out the cockpit and walk the wings to repair any mechanical issues that occurred. In 1918 Locklear performed his stunts to an excited Texan crowd at Barron Field. Wing walking had then become a competition between fellow competitors who would do their upmost to outdo each other’s stunts.

Our Wingwalking Experience UK has certain requirements that must be met. There are ages restrictions that apply, the participants of a wing walking experience must be at least 18 years old and those aged over 65 will need to provide a doctor’s note stating they are fit to carry out a wingwalking experience. There are also height and weight restrictions, you should be no taller than 183 cm (6ft) and weigh no more than 82.5 kg (12.5st), there is also a waist measurement that must not be exceeded of 40 inches including suitable clothing.
Wingwalking can be a little strenuous as the winds can pick up, so please wear tighter fitting clothing, the wind chill factor plays a part in this experience, so wrap up warm, especially during the colder times of the year. Be aware that wingwalking experiences usually take place between April and October, as the cold weather will make a wingwalking experience a very uncomfortable one.
